$1,000 gift card for mother who gave birth
“We thought it was a great idea,” said Stephanie, a mother of two from Columbus, Ohio, who gave her husband $1 on a $1 gift card.
“I really wanted to make it a permanent thing and help my mom.”
The gift card was part of a $300,000 giveaway for Columbus-area moms at the beginning of the month, which raised money for Columbus CityCare, a nonprofit that provides free child care for low-income children.
Stephanie said the card was a “gift” for her husband.
“It was a nice gesture,” she said.
“He just wanted to give something to her.”
The card, which was available online, was purchased from a website called Wootwoot.com.
“We were all really happy that the card went through and was accepted,” said Amanda, a mom from Ohio who received her first gift card on Tuesday.
“That was super nice of him to do that.
He’s always been so kind.”
Amanda said she was also impressed by the card’s design.
“You know, I think he’s really cute,” she added.
Amanda and her husband, Chris, are both on maternity leave.
“As soon as I got the card I was like, ‘This card is just so awesome, it’s amazing.
It’s a little girl’s card.
It has a lot of things on it,'” Amanda said.
Stephanie, meanwhile, was happy that her husband and her other two kids got their first gift cards.
“My husband and I got a gift card that said, ‘Give your mom a gift for Mother’s Day,'” Stephanie said.
The two mothers have shared photos of their gifts on social media, including one of the mother and her kids, who were also wearing pink.
“They were just super happy,” Stephanie said of her and her family.
“The whole day we were like, I hope you guys like this gift because it’s just a special day.”
For now, Amanda and Chris will keep their cards at home, which is “super cool,” Amanda said, although they plan to exchange them for more when the moms return to work.
“When I get back home I’ll take it back and put it on the counter,” she joked.
